One of the best things about Headwaters is that they have been Workaway/Woof volunteers themselves and they have hosted quite a bit as well so they have a very structured system for their volunteers. They have an onsite market farmer and his partner that live their along with a garden intern. In addition to those 3 and the 3 of us they accommodated 3 additional woofers making about 9 bodies to manage each day. Pretty cool!
Breakfast was always an individual thing at the White House/ original farm house. We worked Tuesday-Saturday and reported at the Big House at 9:00 am . . . well we all raced up the hill late often but made it by 9:15. . .to powwow about the days tasks and goals and decide who would work on what. We had lunch all together informally (sandwich and wrap items and leftovers) and relaxed about an hour or hour and a half. Then we worked on until 3-4 pm.
Little Plate needed a nap so Mr. Plate and I took turns doing nap time while the other worked on and then tried to make up the hours by working later until 5 or 6 sometimes or helping extra at dinner and we were so grateful to Tony and Linda for being flexible with the toddler nap schedule! Such a blessing. The afternoon was for cleaning up and some fun downtime. Little Plate really enjoyed hanging out with all of her new friends when we were all relaxing in the afternoon. Everyone was so great at indulging all of her games and antics and I think they had fun too! Dinner was served between 7 or 7:30 pm and it was always so fun because with the addition of Tony and Linda and their kids or random house guests there was rarely less than 12 people, often more than.
On our days off, Sunday and Monday, we would eat as volunteers and garden interns at the White House which Linda and Tony supplied some groceries to.
